Traditional Rulers applauds Free Dental Care in Oke Ogun, Urges indigines to develop the region.
The free dental care across Oke-ogun embarked on by Cleft and Facial Deformity Foundation has been described as a significant step towards emancipation of the people of oke-ogun. Dr Bello and his team of professionals carrying out free dental treatments across Oke Ogun local governments of Oyo state prioritised visits to the monarchs as a major tool of advocacy, respect for traditional institutions and easiest way of community involvement. Traditional rulers were unanimous in the belief that oral health has been largely neglected at the grassroots all over Nigeria.
While explaining the motive behind the programme at the palace of Elero of ILero, Oba Wasiu Saka Olokolonigi, Dr Bello, stated that the exercise was to create awareness about dental diseases among our people and also to assist the less privileged with free treatments. The objective also includes the need to sensitize governments about the grim necessity to establish dental clinics in every local governments of Oke ogun. While praising the initiative in his palace, His Royal Highness Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba AbdulGaniyu Ologunebi Ajinese observed that the solution to Oke ogun problem can only come from indigenes of Oke ogun that decide to give back to the society. He urged all the Oke-ogun diasporians to come home and contribute their quota in their respective professional capacities. The story is similar at the palaces of Onitede, Onighoho, and Eleyinpo of Ipapo land. The programme was concluded in Nov 2019 with 1396 Oke Ogun indigene suffering from various dental problems receiving succour.
