The free dental surgery across oke-ogun has been described as a rare initiative that could succinctly be described as the first of its kind. This observation was made by Alhaji Salau Moroof Ajani, the honourable chairman of Shaki -East local government area, during the programme that took place at the maternity centre Ago-Amodu in oke-ogun area of oyo state. According to him, poor access to oral health in Oke-ogun area is not unconnected with the paucity of dental clinics and dental practitioners.

Dental clinics are located in only two towns; Iseyin and Shaki in Iseyin and  Shaki West local government areas respectively, out of the  whole ten local government areas of Oke-ogun with a population of 1.6 million. He urged the public to take advantage of this initiative and benefit maximally from the programme.  He promised that local and state governments will continue to accord high priority to oral health among the people of Oke-Ogun.

Free dental treatment awareness programme across the ten local government of oke-ogun is anchored by Cleft and Facial Deformity Foundation (CFDF) in collaboration with Oyo state and the local government areas of oke-ogun. Cleft and facial deformity foundation is an Abuja based non-governmental organisation and it is made up of Nigeria based volunteer professionals including dental surgeons, dental therapists, dental technicians and admin officers. According to mr Kambia Ajiyet, the program officer of the foundation, Ago-Amodu is the second location of the program haven had a successful treatment of about 130 people at Kishi in irepo local government area of the state. He promised that the program would continue until most of the Oke-ogun communities are covered with the awareness program.
