CLEFT AND FACIAL DEFORMITY FOUNDATION KWALI OUTREACH PROGRAM: Affecting lives positively
Cleft and facial deformity foundation in partnership with TY Danjuma foundation, conducted a medical outreach program, for a week in kwali general hospital, federal capital territory where successful interventions of over 70 lives were touched and rehabilitated.
On the first day, influx of patients from in and around Abuja storm the kwali general hospitals, these patients comprise of cleft and palate patients, facial tumor patients, patients with locked jaw and dental patients. we recorded about 80 patients on the first day. As the program continues new patients were still coming in to be attended to.
In the course of the program two patients story caught my attention;
A case of Mr Ata-naruno Benson from owhelogbo town, Isoko north local government area of delta state (contact Benson 08052376568) who has locked jaw since birth, currently 61 years and has been blind for about 14years. In his testimony he said, “for the past 61 years he has not open his mouth, bring out his tongue or even properly brushing his teeth” he jokingly said women run away from him on noticing his problem and that has traumatized him. He is happy that help has finally come his way through Dr Seidu Bello,the director. He also thanked CFDF and TY Danjuma foundation for taking the initiative to help poor Nigerians in their time of need and suffering and prayed they continue to touch Nigerians positively.
Another case that caught my attention was an 8-year-old boy named Daniel Akpobulokaemi from Gbekebor town, Burutu local government area of Delta State (contact Mother Caroline 09031583802) who suffered from fibrous dysplasia that created a tumor on his face and it is a sorrowful look. His mother said he was almost kicked out of school because of the tumor but his Head Mistress intervene saying every child deserves to be educated no matter the challenge they have and was allowed to continue school. Daniel Mother was very happy that her son benefitted and giving a renewed hope of living a normal life. And she thanked cleft and facial deformity foundation and TY Danjuma foundation for this intervention.
Nigerian lives were touched indeed and we are challenged to help one another by supporting and contributing to such interventions so that poor and neglected Nigerians can be rehabilitated. I want to use this medium to appreciate the efforts of cleft and facial deformity foundation and TY Danjuma foundation for taking the initiative and we hope to see more of this.
