CLEFT & FACIAL DEFORMITY FOUNDATION( FormerlyCleft Care Foundation Nigeria)

The burning desire to give back to the society was ignited by two occurrences in 2010. The founder, Dr SA Bello participated in two surgical missions on cleft and facial deformity, carried out by foreigners in Nigeria. Following full participation in this two programmes, it was observed that there were left over unoperated patients. Then the question arose: WHAT IS THE FATE OF THESE LESS PRIVILEDGE NIGERIANS WITH DASHED HOPE? The answer in line with my passion was simple: INDIGINOUS SURGICAL MISSION. That led to the birth of CLEFT & FACIAL DEFORMITY FOUNDATION.

The organization started operating in 2010 as an affiliate of QH MEDCONSULT LTD. In 2012, it was registered as a non- profit, non-governmental organization, CLEFT CARE FOUNDATION, with initial focus on Facial Clefts. The organization soon expanded its operations to include all facial deformities including facial tumours, locked jaw and other facial defects and the name was changed to CLEFT & FACIAL DEFORMITY FOUNDATION.

Our History

Cleft & Facial Deformity Foundation

We have carried out 14 outreach programmes in selected hospitals in the federal capital territory as well as surrounding states of Nassarawa, Kogi, Niger and Taraba states. We have operated on about 650 patients with different kinds of facial deformities. We hope to expand our operation to other parts of the country and neighboring African Countries.
I believe strongly that being Nigerians, we will be able to move at a faster speed to solve the persistent problem of adult cleftpatients as well as other craniofacial deformities occasioned principally by poverty.
The foundation hopes to partner with practitioners on the field of CLP and craniofacial surgery, individuals with philanthropic tendencies, as well as corporate organizations both local and foreign, to achieve her objectives. You are all welcome.
